BANDS ON BOATS...

... is a new film project in-progress by Gabriele Kahnert

BANDS ON BOATS will result in a 80 min. music-documentary shot exclusively on super 8.

I'm looking for musicians or bands; whether they be comprised of women or men, old or young members, either well known or unknown. Those involved have two things in common: living and working in Berlin and not caring for mainstream trends or the flashy habits of the music industry. All that matters to you is your creativity, originality, a sense of fun as well as a love of music. This project focusses on innovative personalities who dare to do take risks, striving to find and develop new forms, who steer clear of clichés, building their own niches.

Part of the film will be shot on a boat on the Berlin canals. To complete these scenes there will be takes that portray the bands, their work and their philosophy, corresponding to their specific music and nature.

I will shoot the film exclusively on super 8 (colour, black/white, diverse light sensivities, partly self processed). Using the film material’s special quality that is capable to capture the intensity of the music and the originality of the bands, I will create a spirited, quirky and unique portrait of Berlin.

BANDS ON BOATS sets off once again!

On Saturday June 18 2011 from 6 - 10 pm from the quay under the Wildenbruchbrücke in Neukölln. Boarding on the hour. Entrance is free of charge. Each boat ride will be filmed!
There will play 4 fantastic Bands:
6-7 pm: Goldfish (Alternative)
7-8 pm: Sonora Milagrosa (Globalbeatz)
8-9 pm: Formelwesen (AudiovisualPopExtra)
9-10 pm: Quixote (Rock Avantgarde)
